By 2024 "AI" had moved from a feature to an architecture. The industry word of the year was agents: systems that take a goal, plan, call tools and check their own work, instead of answering a single prompt. Eziline spent the year rebuilding its AI modules around that idea, publishing sector pages for education, banking, healthcare, retail, property, restaurants, car services and production, and writing more guides than in any previous year.
Agents and tool use
The practical difference between a chatbot and an agent is that the agent can do something: look up an order, run a report, create a ticket. We connected language models to the APIs of our own products, ERP, POS, LMS and the help desk, with permissions and audit trails, so an assistant could act on a user's behalf inside the system rather than describe what the user should click. This is the plumbing EZI AI Bot runs on.
Sector modules
The AI modules were reorganised by sector in May 2024, each with its own page describing the problems it solves: attendance and safety in schools, document and fraud checks in banks, patient flow in hospitals, shelf and footfall analytics in retail, and so on. They are listed under Products on this site.
A year of guides
The Guides category gained dozens of posts in 2024, on freelancing platforms and contracts, remote work habits, digital marketing, cybersecurity basics, e-commerce and SaaS. They are written for the students and freelancers Ezitech trains, and they are now the most-read part of this site.
Team
- Anniversary celebrations in February.
- Continued growth in Flutter mobile work and the SaaS versions of EZIERP, EZIPOS and EZILMS.
- Internship and campus programmes through Ezitech and Ezi Soft Code.
The year closed with the company at its largest, with a product catalogue of more than twenty systems and a clear direction for 2025: ship the AI assistant as a product of its own.
Looking ahead
The 2025 plan had two launches on it. EZI AI Bot, the assistant over live ERP data that the agent architecture had been built for, was to be released as a product for EZIERP clients first, then connected to other systems through their APIs. EZIMKT, a marketing bot that drafts and schedules social posts with human approval, would answer the second most common request from clients. Beyond the two products, the year was to be about making the SaaS versions of the ERP, POS and LMS the default for new clients, and about preparing to replace the company's own WordPress website, which had served since 2009, with a site built the way the company now builds for clients.
